A Successful Start for SCOR

We’re still buzzing from the energy of the SCOR kickoff event on February 18th in Neuchâtel! It was fantastic to see so many people interested in the future of ontology. A big thank you to all the speakers and attendees who made the day so engaging.

We had a brilliant lineup of talks, covering everything from the philosophical underpinnings of applied ontology to the latest developments in semantic AI and knowledge graphs. It was truly inspiring to hear different perspectives on how ontologies can shape our world.

An important outcome of the kickoff was the discussion about SCOR’s future direction. Here’s a quick rundown of the key points and decisions.

  • Working Groups: SCOR will establish working groups focused on researching and developing ontologies for specific subject areas. These groups will be the engine for future ontology development within SCOR.
  • Ontology as a Career Path: SCOR will actively promote the value of ontology development as a career path, particularly for students with a philosophical background. The goal is to highlight the unique skills philosophers bring to the field.
  • Community Building: The kickoff event successfully brought together researchers, students, and professionals interested in ontology. Our goal is to build on this momentum to further strengthen this community.

Also, we now have a LinkedIn page. Stay tuned for more updates!
