We are proud to announce that Fumiaki Toyoshima (SCOR member, University of Neuchâtel) and Ludger Jansen (SCOR external collaborator, Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule Brixen) have received the “Best of JOWO 2025” award for their paper:
“Malfunctioning Artifacts: A Step Towards a Realizable-Centered Unifying Account”
The paper was presented at the 9th Joint Ontology Workshops (JOWO 2025), held in Catania, Italy on September 8–9, 2025. The workshops were co-located with the 15th International Conference on Formal Ontology in Information Systems (FOIS 2025) (https://www.dmi.unict.it/fois2025/), the flagship conference of the International Association for Ontology and its Applications (IAOA) (https://iaoa.org/).
JOWO 2025 received 104 submissions across 15 workshops, of which 70 papers were accepted (53 regular papers and 17 short papers). The paper by Fumiaki and Ludger was accepted at the 9th Workshop on Foundational Ontology (FOUST IX) (https://foust.inf.unibz.it/foust-ix/) and was subsequently selected for the Best of JOWO 2025 award, which recognizes outstanding contributions across all workshops.
